Catastrophic Flooding Impacts in South-Central Texas

Widespread life-threatening flash and urban flooding will continue to pose a significant threat to life and property in south-central Texas. Catastrophic fiver flooding, with rapid rises on small streams, arroyos, and typically dry washes, is expected. Thunderstorms are possible across Washington, north and eastern Oregon. There is a Marginal Risk of Severe Thunderstorms across the eastern most portion of northeastern Oregon and southeastern Washington through late evening. The vegetation is dry and it can take just one lightning strike to start a new fire. Any outflow winds associated with thunderstorms may create rapid fire spread. Please follow all local fire restrictions.
Heat Advisory in effect until 9 PM tonight. Hot conditions with temperatures up to 100 degrees expected. This will pose a moderate to locally major risk of heat-related illness. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
